What is the Best Roof Sealant?

If you’re like most homeowners, you don’t know much about roofing sealants. In fact, many people don’t realize that even the most inexpensive roof sealant is capable of dramatically improving the lifespan of your roof. Unfortunately, many homeowners don’t take the time to learn about what makes a good roof sealant, like the ones from CT1, or they simply don’t have the money to hire a professional to install a sealant on their roof. Fortunately, there are ways to save money on roof sealant without spending large amounts of money.

Roof sealants come in two forms: reflective and non-reflective. Although reflective sealants are commonly used for asphalt shingles and asphalt roofs, they are not the best option for protecting against UV rays. In order to protect against ultraviolet rays, a sealant must be designed to diffuse or reflect sunlight. Reflective sealants typically contain urethane crystals that have been thinned down with a solvent. Since urethane is also an extremely cheap and available product, it’s a very common component of most sealants.

If you’re looking for the best roof sealant, it’s important to pay attention to the ingredients. Cheap sealants often contain solvent-based sealers that are meant to create bubbles and thicken clogged materials. Asphalt is one material that contains lots of static electricity, which means that applying a typical urethane-based roof leak cure will only work to reduce leaks and not completely stop them. The best option for preventing roof leaks is to seek out sealants that contain multiple penetration-blocking ingredients. These compounds are designed to penetrate deeply into the pores of the roof material, stopping leaks from occurring at the membrane level.
