When you are not familiar with technology and computers, it can be a bit overwhelming when the time comes to buy a new laptop. There are lots of different laptop models out there and there are also lots of technical specifications that can make it easy to get confused if you are not sure what you are looking for.

You don’t need to be a computer whizz however to find a laptop that is well suited to your needs – just having a good idea of what you are looking for helps.

The first thing that you need to consider is the uses of the laptop. If it is for general use – for example, browsing the internet and sending emails, you don’t need to get anything particularly high powered. If you want to store and edit photos, or use it for gaming or work, then it may need to be a higher spec model depending on the use. These types of activities need to have a larger display, more storage space and a faster processor.

The other thing that will come into it of course is the budget. Of course, higher spec laptops are going to cost more, but there are ways that you can get what you are looking for less. You can buy second hand laptops, or you can also buy cheap laptops that have been refurbished.

A laptop is something that is a big investment and you want it to last and be reliable, so putting the effort in now to work out what you want and to find a good deal will pay off.
